Hey! Two beginner gardeners here, started up a bit of a project at Nikki's house. This is our story.

my video won’t upload so I’ve gone around and taken photos of the backyard, front yard and the products I brought today. I’ll upload them now, let us know if you can spot somewhere to put the Strawberries, any improvements (apart from weeding, that is tomorrows job) and some ideas for what materials I can use for the compost bin! Have a nice night/day

I’ve taken a video that shows the backyard and front garden (as well as my interrupting dogs) so you can visit our house virtually! Might help us find some things.

I’m looking for a good place to put the strawberries (full sun?) and, something to make and somewhere to put a compost bin.

I’m also after some help on what to do with compost bins? I’ve never attempted one but I’ve looked at them at work regularly (Bunnings Girl!)

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Okay, I’ll upload the video and some photos for you :)

Its been raining all week and our iceberg lettuce plants are not coping! They’re the only ones who seem to be affected. Any suggestions?

Update: Our flowers don’t enjoy too much sun, so keep them away from the top layer of rockwall..

Everything is growing away! Like Bee’s collecting honey! Just waiting for the carrots and the lettuce to start kicking off. Enjoying having breakfast outside now, such a pretty view.

How to naturally get rid of insects

I was giving our garden some water and I spotted a little green Caterpillar chomping away on our veggies! I finished watering them and ran inside to find my ‘It’s Natural’ book by Alan Hayes (its a book about living by only using natural remedies)

Took a while to find it but here it is:

All Purpose Insecticide

controls:

 • wireworm
 • caterpillars
 • weevils
 • blackfly
 • aphids
 • leaf-sucking insects

Ingredients:

 • 3 chopped chillies
 • 1/2 a sliced onion
 • 1 clove garlic, chopped
Method:

 • add all ingredients to 1L of water
 • bring to boil
 • remove from heat and cover
 • steep (let it sit) for 2 days then strain
- Can be frozen, used inside and outside

*Before using insecticide mix a little soft soap (green soap), or soapy water so it adheres to the plants.

If you have any other ideas, let us know!
